Mile High Club: Warez
Twenty-six year old Jordon Honeycutt, better known as Warez, has been making waves in the EDM community as of late, first with his release of his EP in April titled “Floods,”and then spending the same month touring and playing shows with Ray Volpe, Adventure Club, and Kayzo.
So what make Warez someone to keep your eye on? His masterful use of soulful melody contrasted with deep, dark bass pulls you in from the first note, and keeps you in a world of his creation for the duration of the song. This beautiful balance between the light caress of the softer notes and the bone-crushing sound of heavy bass is perfectly noted in the song he released yesterday, July 9th, titled Fuck That, which makes use of delicate notes to grab attention, then quickly evolving into a grimy breakdown followed by a drop so filthy, you can’t help but move when it hits.
Warez was also on the lineup for Something Wonderful 2017, which was his first festival appearance, and took place in April along with his other big events. Beyond having released remixes of artists such as Crywolf and Mercer, he has a collab with Kayzo in the works, no word on the release date, and Kayzo and Snails have recently dropped his tracks at EDC and other shows in the last few months.
All this new music is very exciting, and as the artist himself said in a tweet, “releasing music is such a whirlwind of emotions and sometimes I don’t know how to deal.” All I can say is that it looks like 2017 is going to be a big year for Warez, and I can’t wait to see what else he comes up with.
